The Health Ministry is looking into recruiting more doctors and specialists from overseas to boost the delivery of health services in the country.
Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said the Ministry is currently in the process of bringing in 17 overseas doctors.
Tora said they are also trying to get Fijian doctors who have migrated overseas to Fiji for a week for voluntary service.
Interim Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma had earlier this week stated that the Ministry is looking at recruiting specialists and is hopeful that by September more specialists will be in the country as well as new equipment for all hospitals, health centres and sub divisional hospitals.
According to Dr Sharma, there are also plans in the pipeline to move out specialists out of base hospitals in Lautoka and Labasa to go across to Taveuni, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and the western division too.
