The Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities has highlighted the importance of a road user levy which is to be paid by all vehicle owners.

Timoci Natuva said that the levy will be directed towards a special fund that will be utilized to compliment the maintenance budgets, provided by government for the rehabilitation of roads around the country.

Natuva said the levy is not meant to fund new capital projects but is actually intended to upgrade existing roads whether in rural or urban centres.

Meanwhile he added Government intends to tar seal all roads through the assistance of this road user levy.
