The Education Ministry is calling on parents, teachers, villages, community elders and religious leaders to take pro-active measures for the sake of protecting children from sexual abuse.
The ministry said the recent reported cases of sexual abuse cases involving students are indeed alarming and definitely, action must be taken to address this pressing matter.
Education Minister Filipe Bole said the first step should be taken by the parents who are to talk to their children about these issues.
Bole said there should be more and consistent family time where sensitive issues which affect children can be discussed.
Bole added the alleged sodomy case of a 7 year old boy over the weekend is sick and very disturbing.
