A new formula will be in place to ensure there is a more even distribution of funds to schools.

Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said this will be implemented by the Ministry adding the new formula takes into account more factors to better reflect the needs and disadvantaged positions of schools.

Bole said the Ministry is confident that with this formula, the resources will be allocated according to needs and the level of economic support of each school.

He said this is in response to the Ministry trying to bring about even greater equity in education especially between the rural and urban communities.

The current formula for grant distribution is based on the number of students in the schools, which obviously are the urban schools, which are already supported by parents and organizations that have a regular source of income unlike most rural schools.
