There are indications that the Ministry of Local Government will not rush into setting a timetable to hold municipal elections with the Interim Minister stressing that a lot of work needs to be done first.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Filipe Bole said their main priority is to get things into order starting with trying to recover an estimated $43 million in rates owed in total to the 14 municipal councils around the country.

Bole said what good it would be to bring back councilors to run the town and cities with such outstanding dues, the infrastructure in tatters and deteriorating services all around.
