Ministry of Health said it should not be solely blamed for the shortages of drugs in our hospitals.
While the Ministry agrees that there are some hospitals and health centers in the country which run out of some important medicines, Health Officials say the problem is much bigger than it seems.
The Principal Supplies Officer in Fiji Pharmaceutical Services, Walusio Buatava stressed at a symposium this morning that supply of drugs to Fiji takes nearly half a year to deliver after an order is placed.
Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor Lepani Waqitakirewa said while funding isn't a problem, they now have to seriously look at how drugs supply can reach Fiji faster.
