The Education Ministry is generalizing in their assessment and should focus on identifying schools that need to be given special priority.
Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary Agni Deo Singh speaking to Village News said that the statement by the Interim Minister for Education that teachers in schools with a pass rate less than 50 percent for this year's external exams would be transferred to another school is baseless.
Singh also said that if the same teachers from schools with low pass rates were taken to other prominent schools there would not be any difference in results.
The Interim Minister had earlier said that over the past three years there has not been any improvement in results and as a result they would take such a drastic action to ensure that the students got the best education they could provide.
