Health officials in the western division are on alert after more than 15 people were found suffering from diarrhea and three people suspected of suffering from leptospirosis following the recent flooding.

Divisional medical officer western Doctor Tharid Ali has confirmed that a woman in Nadi had died and they suspect she was suffering from leptospirosis.

Doctor Ali believes there are many more unreported cases of diarrhea.

He has raised concern that people are not adhering to the warnings given by the Health Ministry.
