Education influences health, and health influences education.

This is the aim of both the Health and Education Ministry as they signed a Memorandum of Understanding to educate students on the need for healthy life style practices.

Permanent Secretary for Education Filipe Jitoko said an unhealthy child will face many challenges and that is why they want to work with the Health Ministry to put in place a curriculum to teach students about the importance of healthy living.

Jitoko said they want to implement this program in school because ensuring children are healthy will benefit their school work and in the long run benefit Fiji.

This is in collaboration with the World Health Organization’s Health Promoting School program.
