The Transport Ministry is now in talks with the Ministry of Education along with the Finance Ministry to ensure that school children are not charged any bus fares when they travel in school buses from next Wednesday.
Ministry spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said after the announcement by the Prime Minister, the Ministry started talks to ensure that all regulations are followed.
Waqainabete said one of their plans is to brief teachers and get the correct number of students that are using school buses.
Waqainabete added that the money will be handled by the Finance Ministry.
The free fare program for students travelling in school buses will be in effect until the end of the current school year while Bainimarama said they are looking at options on whether the program will roll over to next year.
