All government departments and ministries have been directed by the Finance Ministry to cut all expenses by 50 percent, but staffing will not be affected.
At the Fiji Public Service Association Suva branch AGM earlier this week, General Secretary Rajeshwar Singh told his members that he has seen the confidential Circular demanding a 50 percent reduction in expenses and claimed that this could affect their members.
However, Permanent Secretary for Public Service Taina Tagicakibau said the directive is to cut back on expenses and the wages and salaries bill and staff numbers will not be affected.
