The Communications Minister has stressed the need for standardization and bridging the gaps that exist in the telecommunication industry around the world as he addressed the Joint CTO and International Telecommunication Union Forum this afternoon.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khiayum said he has also called on the two telecommunication bodies to include consumer organizations in their discussions to be able to raise the concerns of consumers on Information Technology issues.
He also stressed the need to standardize mobile phone use and charges while making telecommunication technology more accessible to the people.
Sayed-Khaiyum also stressed the need to have a very robust and practical regulatory system in place.
The CTO conference comes to an end this afternoon and the ITU conference commence from tomorrow at the Sheraton Resort in Nadi.
