Minister awaits written explanation from Suva Lord Mayor
The Interim Local Government Minister is awaiting a written explanation from the Suva Lord Mayor for taking the mayoral vehicle to the Methodist Church Conference in Macuata.
Jone Navakamocea said he has asked for an explanation and verification from the Mayor and Town Clerk whether an approval to take the vehicle to the conference was given through a council meeting and if the use of the vehicle was Ratu Peni Volavola's privilege as a Lord Mayor, before any action is taken against him.
Navakamocea added that the Methodist Church invited the Lord Mayor in his capacity as the Church Vice President to the conference and he should have requested the Methodist Church to provide a vehicle for him but unfortunately that was not done by Ratu Peni Volavola.
He adds that this type of action will not be condoned.
