The Interim Local Government Minister has stressed today that he will not say anything publically about the demotion of his Permanent Secretary Litia Mawi.
Although Mawi has claimed that Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi complained about her due to differences between him and her on many issues, Vayeshnoi told Fijivillage that this is a matter for the Public Service Commission (PSC) to comment on.
Vayeshnoi said the PSC makes the decision on demotions and transfers and the commission also decides on which Permanent Secretary should be allocated to the ministry.
He refused to comment further.
Meanwhile, the PSC has stressed that Litia Mawi has been demoted due to non-performance.
Chairman Rishi Ram said the PSC acted upon receiving reports from the authorities concerned.
According to Ram, he has no idea whether there was any difference between Mawi and Vayeshnoi.
Ram said the position is expected to be filled today.
Mawi has been demoted to Deputy Secretary and will be transferred to another ministry.
Meanwhile, Mawi will be going on six months leave from next Monday.
Mawi told Fijivillage that she had not taken her leave for the past three years.
