Interim Minister for Local Government and Urban Development Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi has today challenged and reminded Town and City Mayors of their role in providing services to their rate payers.
Speaking to the members of the Fiji Local Government Association, Vayeshnoi made his intention known to the mayors and town clerks that his ministry will closely monitor their performance over the next two weeks.
Vayeshnoi said that any complaints regarding any town council will not be entertained and he will see that appropriate action is taken.
He also highlighted the fact that problems faced by each municipality have not been solved and the rate payers are left to suffer.
