The mining sector in Fiji could be raking in an estimated $1.2 billion per year within the next four years as a number of exploration and mining licenses are being issued by the government.
Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Netani Sukanaivalu said over the last decade, cost of explorations have increased from $10 million to around $55 million and this will generate significant revenue for Fiji.
Sukanaivalu said these are very exciting times for the mining sector in Fiji.
Meanwhile, three companies will soon become the first to be issued with deep sea exploration licenses to search for mineral deposits on the boundaries of Fiji exclusive economic zone.
