A one hour mini switch off is planned for the launch of Earth Hour this evening.
Organizers for the event, WWF revealed that they want the public to get a feel of what Earth Hour is really like, adding that Sukuna Park will for one hour be lit by candle light.
During earth hour, business houses and households are asked to switch off non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour.
Event coordinator Losana Mc Gowan said they want to show people that they can make a difference by simple activities.
In 2008 FEA revealed that compared to a regular Saturday, on Earth hour Saturday, Fiji saved approximately 11.2 megawatts of power which is equivalent to supplying energy for one hour to 15 large five star hotels.
The 2010 Earth Hour Campaign will be launched tonight by Environment Minister, Colonel Samuela Saumatua at 7.30 at Sukuna Park.
