The relocation of former Vatukoula gold mine workers who are occupying the company quarters is currently being looked at by the Lands and Mineral Resources Ministry, Social Welfare and Commissioner Central Office.

Acting Permanent Secretary, Malakai Nalawa confirmed that they are having discussions with relevant stakeholders on ways to relocate these workers as they are no longer employed by the company.

However, he added that further talks are expected after the Vatukoula Deed of Agreement is finalised and a board is appointed.

He also said they are short-listing candidates and anticipating elections to be held at the earliest, by next week.
