Athletics Fiji coach Albert Miller is confident that South Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro and javelin thrower Leslie Copeland will qualify for the Rio Olympics.
Miller said that Tabakaucoro competed at the Taiwan Open Athletics Championship two weeks ago and came first in the 100 metres final with the time of 10.34 seconds and finished second in the 200 metres with the time of 20.9 seconds.
He added that Leslie Copeland was third with a throw of just over 70 metres.
Miller said the qualifying mark to the Olympics for Men’s Javelin is over 83 metres.
The qualifying time for the 100 metres is 10.16 seconds while the 200 metres is 20.50 seconds.
Tabakaucoro clocked 20.53 seconds in the Pacific Games last year.
Miller said that no one has qualified from athletics at the moment.
Tabakaucoro will also be taking part in the Melanesian Games in Suva next month.
