Academic and one of the architects of the 1997 Constitution, Professor Brij Lal says the comment by the Fiji Military Forces is an unfair statement.
Lal says he is not emotionally detached from Fiji but remains true to it and adds that it is his work that keeps him overseas.

RFMF spokesperson Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga had earlier said that people should understand that Lal who is based in Australia is talking from an academic point of view and does not understand the situation in the country since he no longer lives here.
