The military's 3FIR Unit and a Combat Service Support Team of the Logistic Support Unit of the RFMF will be conducting live firing military exercises in and around Balenabelo and Galoa corridors from today to the 21st of this month.

Military Spokesperson, Lt Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho said the purpose of the exercise is to confirm theory lessons on basic infantry skills and guerrilla tactics.

Lt Colonel Qiliho said the shift from conventional warfare tactics to guerrilla tactics was implemented after the withdrawal of the military training assistance by Australia and NZ.

The live firing exercise will involve 60mm mortar high explosive ammunition and other small arms and ammunition used in guerrilla warfare.

Lt Colonel Qiliho advises members of the public to stay away from the areas during the exercise.
