Military not the driving force
RFMF spokesperson, Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga said the army only accommodated the meeting at the military camp after a request from the Prime Minister's Office. He said actual presentation on the awareness campaign on the Charter was done by officials at the Prime Minister's Office.
Lt Colonel Tikoitoga also said the venue was provided free of charge for the meeting and tax dollars were saved through the exercise.
Meanwhile Tikoitoga said the main reason for the workshop last week for the Roko, District Officers and Provincial Commissioners was to ensure that people understand the basis of having a People's Charter.
Lt Colonel Tikoitoga added that the workshop was important since those who were in the workshop will have to pass on the information of the Charter to the ordinary people without taking any sides.
Citizens Constitutional Forum Executive Director, Rev Akuila Yabaki said the training at the military camp last week, should be a reminder to the interim government that it would be very easy for the military to impose their views on the Charterr.
Yabaki said it military should not be the driving force behind the Charter.
