Charges have been laid against a 40 year old man of Ba who allegedly impersonated a military intelligence officer on Monday.

He has been charged with impersonation, the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, being in possession of explosives and corruption.

He will appear in the Ba Magistrates Court later today.

It is alleged that the man told a car owner that he was a military intelligence officer and he is involved in a dynamite operation for which he needed the car.

He later drove away in the car which was later found abandoned with dynamite.

Meanwhile, a 40 year old man of Lautoka is in police custody for allegedly hacking his 40 year old wife with a cane knife yesterday.

Police believe the incident took place after a domestic dispute.

The woman received multiple injuries and is in critical condition.
