The military has exceeded its budget fairly often and the increase is a cause of concern but the RFMF needs the money for capital expenditure.
Those were the words of the Fiji Labour Party (FLP) Leader and former interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry after concerns were raised about the $15 million increase in the military budget for next year.
Chaudhry said the Qarase government had previously cut the capital expenditure for the military and the equipment and other items are needed by the RFMF.
He said some departments and ministries are often under budgeted and this results in a number of problems in the coming year.
