Military Has No Right - Beddoes
This is the view of ousted Leader of Opposition, Mick Beddoes who agrees with Rewa chief, Ro Filipe Tuisawau on the military's role as guardians of the People's Charter.
Beddoes said this role of the military is a self appointed one.
The National Federation Party believes that the military being the guardians of the People's Charter is a threat to the operation of governance in the country.
General Secretary, Pramod Rae said they don’t know as yet what the charter will contain and adds that it will be unconstitutional for the military to force the charter on people.
Rae adds the forcing of the charter will also have an effect on the political parties deciding to contest the next general elections.
These comments are in light of Ro Filipe Tuisawau earlier questioning the military's role as guardians of the People's Charter, who said that it seems that the message the interim government is trying to portray is that the newly elected government post 2009 elections will have to follow the Charter and nothing else.
