The additional $15 million allocated to the military in the 2009 Budget could have been used in other areas where it is badly needed.
Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said this extra 15 million allocation is just not justifiable. Qarase said he hopes this budget will be reviewed so that this money can be used elsewhere on infrastructure development and poverty alleviation.
Meanwhile, the Military will have to sit down to annalyse their big budget before they reveal the breakdown of how the money will be utilised.
Military spokesperson, Major Neumi Leweni said with the increased Military allocation from $81.5 to $94.3 million for 2009 he cannot specify the details.
Leweni said a press statement is yet to be prepared by the RFMF on how their budget will be used and for which purpose.
