Methodist Church President Rev Laisiasa Ratabacaca has refused to comment on the statement by the Co-Chair of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji and Head of the Catholic Church, Archbishop Petero Mataca.

Ratabacaca said the church has already made its stance on their refusal to take part in the council and there is no need for him to comment again.

Archbishop Mataca had earlier said that it is a great pity that some very important sectors of society have chosen to reject the invitation to take part in the national initiative to develop a People's Charter. He said he regrets the decision of some political parties, some churches, unions and NGO's who have distanced themselves from the initiative.

He urged them to rethink their position as the National Council needs everyone to be involved to get all points of view.
