The 2007 Methodist Church conference meeting in the chiefly village of Naduri later this week will focus its attention on how the church can help members who are living in squatters’ settlements to purchase land and resettle them.

According to the agenda of the meeting, the discussion next Thursday in day 4 of the meeting in Macuata the Conference members will be requested to consider assistance to those church members living in the squatter settlement.

The Plan from the church elders is that a sum of money be set aside to purchase land to resettle them and that they be allowed to repay slowly. The Church will assist them in the provision of water, electricity and sewerage.

The church is planning to hold discussion with the "Habitat Fiji" for the building of homes for those concerned.

Other interesting item on the agenda is the time set aside for the Conference to talk about the December 5th takeover and the "Peoples Charter for Change and Progress".

The Church will also discuss the appointment of a Church Minister to specifically serve those living with HIV/Aids.
