The General Secretary of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Chairman of the Fiji Council of Churches said the appointment of Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama as Chairman of the GCC will never be accepted by the Methodist Church.
Speaking to Village news Reverand Tuikilakila Waqairatu said while the Methodist Church Executives will meet next week to discuss these national developments, he believes the decision must be reversed immediately.
Reverand Waqairatu said the Commander holds a number of portfolios which clearly raises concerns over conflict of interest.
The Chairman of the GCC Special Task Force Ratu Tuakitau Cokanauto revealed yesterday that they were not consulted on changes to the GCC regulations which now sees the appointment of the Indigenous Affairs Minister as the Chairman of the GCC.
Ratu Tuakitau said they will meet with Commodore Bainimarama when he returns from India to clarify why they deviated from the recommendations by the GCC taskforce.
