Metered water nationwide is safe to drink. Village News has been checking with PWD officials in all regions and they say, if it's metered water supplied by the PWD - it is safe.

After reports of a possible death due to typhoid fever in the North, Village news spoke to the Divisional Water Engineer there. He said Northern residents who are receiving metered water supply need not worry. However, Timoci Turaga warned that many villages, settlements, and homes in rural areas use their own water supply. He advised they boil it every time to be safe.
For the Central / Eastern Division, Media Liaison officer Maika Nagalu said that since the water supplied to consumers is checked every hour it is safe to drink. He adds that typhoid will only be a threat if you use an independent water supply.
