Lionel Messi scored a stunning second half goal to push Argentina to a 2-1 victory over Bosnia in their Group F opening match.
Messi lifted Argentina in the 65th minute after striking a low left footed shot to the outside of the Bosnian goalkeeper.
It was Messi’s second World Cup goal, adding to one he scored eight years ago in Germany.
Bosnia featuring in their first ever World Cup scored a late goal in the second half and also conceded an own goal.
Meanwhile, some of the star players that have stamped their mark early in this year’s FIFA World Cup include, Messi, Neymar of Brazil, Mario Balloteli (Italy), Robin Van Persie and Arjen Roben of Netherlands and Karim Benzema of France.
In other matches that were played this morning, Switzerland defeated Ecuador 2-1, France beat Honduras 3-0.
Meanwhile, tomorrow Portugal will face Germany at 4am, Iran takes on Nigeria at 7am while Ghana faces USA at 10am.
