Coming off the Chiefs’ first Super Rugby defeat of the season, co-skipper Liam Messam does not want to sit out in this weekend’s game in South Africa just so he can celebrate his 100th appearance at home.

Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie confirmed that Messam wants to play in this Saturday morning's clash with the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth.

The Chiefs went down 36-34 to the Stormers in Cape Town and despite still being in a strong position at the top of the New Zealand conference and third overall with 12 points from three games, there was some concern about the forwards performance.

The Chiefs will take on the Kings at 5.10am this Saturday.

Meanwhile, at 6.35pm Friday, the Highlanders play the Hurricanes while at 8.20pm, the Waratahs play the Cheetahs.

On Saturday the Crusaders clash with the Bulls at 6.35pm and the Reds face the Force at 8.40pm.

On Sunday, at 3.05am, Sharks face on the Brumbies.
