The Fiji Mens Table Tennis team beat New Caledonia in the semifinal this morning.

The team which is currently ranked No.1 in the Pacific has two overseas based players, Wang Qi currently the Coach of the Otago Table Tennis Association and is number one in Fiji and No.1 in the South Pacific.

The other overseas based player is Richel Sen, formerly from Xavier College in Ba, and has been training out of Auckland for a number of years, ranked number three in the South Pacific.

Wang Qi defeated Jeremy Dey of New Caledonia by 3-0 and went on to beat Stephane Gilabert by the same margin.

Richel Sen beat Stephane Gilabert by 3-0 and also beat Fabian Laivan by the same margin.

The Womens Table Tennis team will go on to meet Vanuatu for the Gold medal tomorrow.
 
In other games played today, the Fiji Men's Touch Rugby team beat Niue in the first semifinal this morning by 8-5, and is on track to defend the Gold Medal they won at the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa.

In the other semifinal, Cook Islands beat Samoa 7-6.

Fiji is now meeting Samoa in the Preliminary final that is currently underway.

At 1pm, Fiji will take on the Cook Islands in the Netball semifinals.

The highlight today will be the finals of the 200m, where Banuve Tabakaucoro, Niko Verekauta and Tevita Nalovo will go head-to-head for the Gold Medal.

In the 200m heats yesterday Banuve Tabakaucoro recorded the fastest time of 22.10 seconds while Tevita Nalovo's time stood at 22.28 seconds.

Niko Verekauta did not have any trouble winning his heat in a time of 22.53 seconds. The finals of the 200m will be held at 4pm.

Looking at the medal tally Fiji still leads with 8 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Bronze, Tahiti is second on 7 Gold 6 Silver and 2 Bronze and New Caledonia is third on 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze.
