The Fiji men’s 7s side hammered Samoa 33-7 in the gold medal playoff.
Kitione Dawai who scored two tries opened the scoring sheet.
Jasa Veremalua and Savenaca Rawaca scored a try each as Fiji led 26-0 at half time.
Emosi Mulevoro scored the only try in the second half for Fiji as they extended their lead to 33-0.
Samoa scored a consolation try.

Coach Ben Ryan says they won the final through a well thought out constructed game plan.
Ryan says it was a good competition as he also gauged the players performances.
In the women’s 7s competition, the Telecom Fijiana 7s side beat Australia 12-10 in the gold medal playoff.

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s shooting team won a gold medal at the Pacific Games.
They won gold in the Single Barrel Clay team event.
Fiji’s Christian Stephen settled for a silver in the Raise Shot Gun Clay competition.
In swimming, Matelita Buadromo settled for silver in the women’s 200m Individual Medley Final while the Fiji settled for silver in the 4x200m women’s Freestyle Relay final.
Swimming continues today with the heat starting at 12pm while the final is at 8 tonight.
The Fiji men’s soccer team will now play New Zealand in the Olympic Qualifier final.
The side beat PNG 3-1 in the Olympic Qualifier Semi Final.
The final will be played tomorrow at 4.30pm.
In basketball, the Fiji men’s and women’s teams are both through to the semifinals which starts at 2pm.
The Rugby League 9s competition starts today with Fiji playing Samoa at 2pm.
The Cricket women’s playoffs start at 12pm while the gold medal playoff takes place at 4pm today.
Volleyball also starts at 11am today with the men’s team playing Nauru at 11am.
Looking at the Fijivillage Pacific Games medal tally, Papua New Guinea is leading with 35 gold, 18 silver and 17 bronze.
Tahiti is in second place with 19 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze, New Caledonia is on third place with 18 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze, and Samoa is in fourth place with 17 gold, 17 silver and 1 bronze.
Team Fiji is in fifth place with 10 gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze.
