The BLK Fiji Men’s Under 19 side lost their first game against American Samoa 61-47 in the FIBA USP Oceania U19 Championships.

Fiji made a late come‑back to be down by just 4 points with 2 minutes to go.

A few late 3 pointers, and crucial turnovers by the home team, saw American Samoa run away with a 14 point victory.

Meanwhile it was a different story for the Fiji Women’s team as they defeated Samoa 65-41.

In the second half, Samoa put up a great defense with their top scorer Courtenay Paige Le'au'anae scoring 10 points and 2 assists.

Fiji pulled away with the final score with the help of their top scorer Bitila Sigani Tawake with 14 points and 2 steals.

Today the Fiji Women’s side will face Solomon Islands at 4pm while the Men’s side will play Tahiti at 8pm.

The competition continues today with the Papua New Guinea Men’s taking on New Zealand at 10am.
