Men Appear for Robbery
It is alleged that Noa Yasa and Waisea Vakarauvanua forced their way into the home of Navin Chandra, the owner of Atlas Trading Company on 7th November, 2004.
Chandra took the stand today and told the Court how he heard someone opening the door to his bedroom in the middle of the night, and how three masked men demanded money from him and how he lost his elder son in this incident.
Chandra also told the Court that the robbers threatened his family with a pinch bar and a kitchen knife.
After hearing the robbers demanding money from Chandra, his son Vikash Chandra came to the rescue, when it is alleged that one of the robbers stabbed Vikash with a kitchen knife on the left side of his stomach.
He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The case continues tomorrow in the High Court.
Meanwhile, Police have also taken a 30-year-old Labasa man into custody charging him with assault.
The Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai said two officers went to arrest the man who was drunk and acting in a disorderly manner yesterday.
The man is alleged to have punched the officers however he was eventually arrested and charged.
Both the Officers received minor injuries.
