The members of the public can go ahead with their meetings and they do not have to apply for a permit from the Commissioner's office.

This has been confirmed by the Permanent Secretary for Information, Major Neumi Leweni.

However Major Leweni clarifies that under the current Public Emergency Regulation, a permit is only needed for either a political meeting or meetings that are related to media issues.

Meanwhile the Ba Provincial Council meeting which kicks off at the end of this month can continue without a permit.
