It is still not known when the Public Sector Unions will meet to discuss the Public Service Commission's decision on the Contractual Term arrangement and the Performance Management System.

When Fijivillage News contacted the Unions this morning, all had said nothing has been finalized so far and the media will be informed once a meeting date has been confirmed.

PSC's decision was announced earlier this week by Chairman Rishi Ram who said that all civil servants hired from this month will be on three year contracts and the automatic pay increments through COLA for civil servants be scrapped.

Ram who adds the step needs to be taken to ensure greater efficiency in the civil service as these contracts will be performance based.

The Fiji Public Service Association, the Fiji Trade Unions Congress and the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions had earlier expressed strong opposition to the PSC announcement.
