Fiji born WBA No.1 ranked mandatory challenger Kali Meehan will meet former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev.

The fight has been approved by the World Boxing Association at their recent annual convention in Medellin, Columbia.

Meehan said he is thankful his promoter Don King has faith in him and has promised that he will become the next WBA interim heavyweight champion.

The WBA confirmed that the winner of Meehan-Chagaev fight will face the winner of the match between newly crowned WBA Heavyweight champion David Haye and John Ruiz.

The Meehan-Chagaev fight date is yet to be confirmed.
