Medical team to conduct outreach
Health Ministry spokesperson Iliesa Tora said the outreach program is part of the Ministry's plans to take healthcare services to members of the public, which started two months ago in Vunisea, Kadavu.
Tora said doctors will also be able to carry out minor surgeries at the two facilities if the need arises, with referrals to the CWM Hospital for major surgeries.
The team will be at the Korovou Hospital in Tailevu on the 18th and 19th, then they will move to Vunidawa Hospital in Naitasiri on the 25th and the 26th.
Meanwhile, doctors from India are expected to work in various hospitals around the country in the near future, after the shortage of doctors experienced in some major hospitals.
Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma is going to India to recruit doctors from New Delhi, after attending the World Health Organization Assembly on the global economic crisis.
The Minister will return next month.
