The Health Ministry is in the process of identifying twenty students that will be studying medicine in Cuba.
Permanent Secretary, Doctor Sala Saketa said Fiji has identified the first batch of students who will leave later this year.
The students or medical practitioners chosen will be studying for a Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine (MBBS) in Cuba from September this year.
Earlier PSC had revealed that since there was lack of interest shown for the scholarships, Government was willing to supplement the rest of the study cost.
At the moment, students from the Solomon Islands and Kiribati are studying under the same scholarship scheme in Cuba.
