In an attempt to lend a helping hand to younger surgeons, a team of 20 medical officers will head out to Levuka next week.

The team which will be in the old capital for one week is part of an outreach program by the Health Ministry.

Spokesperson Illiesa Tora said the team headed by the Superintendent of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital will be visiting other outlying islands.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Neil Sharma said though the program will cost the Ministry a lot but the trip is worth the effort.

He adds this will be a way for the doctors to better their primary service to members of the public. The move also sees experienced doctors and nurses moving around to health sub-divisions to assist in service delivery.

The same has been planned for the North and west as well.
