The Interim Attorney General believes that media outlets in the country should not be afraid of any media promulgation, if they are following media ethics in their work.

While highlighting that the media has a special role to play in developing nations, he added it is even more important in a country like Fiji, where 40% of the population live on or below the poverty line and the media has a pivotal role in helping in the development process.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the mainstream print and television media have failed to acknowledge economic development and opportunities that exist to improve lives of the ordinary men and women of our country since the events of December, 2006.
