Four of Fiji's leading media organizations have denied claims that they will not participate in an inquiry into the Fiji media.
Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji Television, Fiji Times and the Fiji Sun released a joint statement which said it was wrong for the Fiji Human Rights Director Dr Shaista Shameem to claim the companies had directed their staff not to make submissions to the inquiry.
Communications Fiji Limited Managing Director William Parkinson said the Director needs to clarify and explain the inquiry's terms of reference before the media inquiry proper starts.
The Director of Fiji Human Rights Commission Dr Shameem when contacted only said there was no point in going over the issue as the letter to FHRC is self explanatory.
She refused to comment further on the matter saying she already has sent the terms of reference regarding the inquiry to the companies.
