The interim Attorney General stresses that media freedom is still alive and it will be illogical to say that actions by police to question a reporter have restricted media freedom.
In an interview with Fijivillage, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed the interim government has always respected media freedom and has not in any way intervened in the operations of any media outlet in Fiji.
The Fiji Media Council had yesterday strongly criticized the actions taken by the police force on Fiji Times reporter Serafina Silaitoga, who was taken in for questioning for writing a news article.
Chairman Daryl Tarte said journalists are being taken in for questioning and this is a threat to media freedom.
