The Fiji Media Council has strongly hit out at the actions taken by the Fiji Police Force on Fiji Times reporter Serafina Salaitoga, who was taken in for questioning for writing a news article in yesterday's Fiji Times.
Chairman Daryl Tarte said journalists are continually been taken in for questioning and this is a threat to media freedom.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that Salaitoga has been released from police custody as the questioning has finished.
The investigation is being carried out in regards to the article in which former Labasa Mayor Charan Jeet Singh had claimed that Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry has been told to leave the interim government.
Meanwhile, the interim administration will make a statement tomorrow with regards to the comments made by Charan Jeet Singh on the dismissal of the Interim Finance Minister.
Speaking to Fijivillage this afternoon, Acting Interim Prime Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau said nothing will be said at the moment.
