Blues coach Pat Lam said they have their own plans of rest and reconditioning for captain Keven Mealamu and that he will play against the Hurricanes despite calls for rest.
Mealamu and prop John Afoa are the only two forwards who have been used in all 10 of the Blues games and they are both expected to line up against the Hurricanes.
Meanwhile Lam has denied that he is under pressure to play Luke McAlister at first five-eighth as the All Black selectors look for a suitable World Cup back-up for Dan Carter.
The Blues will be hosted by the Hurricanes in Wellington at 7:35pm Friday.
