Blues skipper Keven Mealamu was hit by a bottle thrown by a fan as his side beat the Bulls in Pretoria to get their Super Rugby campaign back on track.

The incident happened at the final whistle with Mealamu sitting proudly on the bench after being subbed off late as the Blues won 29-23 to halt a two-game losing streak and notch their first win of the season in the most difficult of circumstances.

Blues coach Pat Lam said Mealamu was annoyed but the most important thing that he is OK and that police had identified the culprit and it had also been caught on camera.

Looking at other results, the Sharks claimed their first win of the 2012 with a 32-20 victory over the Lions, the Reds wriggled free with an 11-6 victory over the Rebels, Highlanders remain unbeaten after edging the Waratahs 18-17 while the Brumbies beat the Cheetahs 24-23.

Going to the points table, the Reds are currently leading followed by the Highlanders in second place, than the Stormers while the Brumbies lie in fourth spot.
