Blues captain Keven Mealamu is confident the players replacing injured colleagues against the Hurricanes in their match tonight are ready to take on the challenge.

A couple of injuries, the latest to fullback Isaia Toeava, means the table topping Blues have just 18 of their original 32 man squad in the lineup for the match in Wellington.

Mealamu said they have got some good players coming through and they are confident to deliver the results.

Among the players out of the team are All Blacks Tony Woodcock, Luke McAlister, Daniel Braid, Anthony Boric and Toeava.

The Blues and Hurricanes match kicks off at 7:35pm tonight and at 9:40pm the Rebels meet the Reds in Melbourne.
