The new Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie has hit back at his All Blacks counterpart Steve Hansen, saying he’ll be the Kiwi responsible for bringing down the New Zealand dollar when Australia topple the world champions in Sydney tomorrow night.

Just as the All Blacks were about to board their plane for Sydney yesterday, McKenzie named the uncapped Brumby, Matt Toomua as his starting first five ahead of Quade Cooper for the eagerly awaited Rugby Championship opener.

Hansen had predicted the selection, adding that McKenzie’s strategy to carefully conceal his team for so long smacked of a new coach under pressure.

McKenzie replied by claiming the heat was actually on Hansen to ensure New Zealand retained the Bledisloe Cup for an 11th straight year, adding that when the All Blacks lose, as rare as it is, it affects the national economy.

The match kicks off tomorrow at 10pm.
